Selling online is highly competitive. Many sellers will utilize auction listings to entice customers to their website to purchase. Gaining trust in your buyers can be a good way to ensure a repeat, long lasting customer.
Closing The Deal
Prepare your auctions to end at a time that you will be available to answer questions that a buyer may have just before an auction ends. As soon as your auction ends be sure to contact the buyer and thank them for bidding on your item. At this time, make payment arrangements if the buyer has not already paid you. Once payment has been received, leave your customer positive feedback so that other sellers can rest assured that your customer is a good bidder. Collect shipping information from your customer. Prompt attention to your patron is very beneficial to you.
It is imperative that you send your customer's package as soon as possible. If there is going to be a delay in shipping their package, contact the buyer to inform them immediately.
Fulfilling The Order
Take advantage to obtain a good impression from your customer by packaging their items in a good, sturdy, clean box. If you are shipping items via Priority Mail through USPS, these boxes are free. You can order Priority Mail packaging through the USPS store online. Another suggestion is that if you also print your shipping label from USPS, you automatically have delivery confirmation for free!
Cushion your customer's valuables by padding the box with tissue paper, packing peanuts or bubble wrap.
Sending your customer a thank you note or printed order slip with their package will display your attention to that individual customer.
Including a business card, coupon for a future purchase from your website as well as a free gift is a good idea too! Your free gift doesn’t have to be expensive, just a small token is ample enough to show your customer that you appreciate their business.
Why not include A Mom Pack? :)
Above all, make sure that your items are as described and in good, clean, working order. Whether this is an item that you always carry on your website or just something you no longer have a need for, it is an impression of you and your business.
Do not list items that are not in excellent condition without informing your viewers.
Follow Up With Your Customer
Once you have allowed ample time for your customer’s package to arrive, contact the customer via email for follow up.
Confirm that your customer is happy with their purchase. If not, attempt to correct the problem in a professional, timely manner. If they are pleased, ask your newly created customer if you can add their email address to your mailing list to update them of new auctions you have listed. Do not add any email addresses without prior permission. Otherwise, you could be considered a spammer!
Also be sure to ask your customer to leave feedback for you so that other buyers will gain confidence in you and your products.
Following these guidelines will be important steps for you to make certain that your customer will return for future purchases.
